The Ultimate Wedding Stationery Checklist - Everything you need to remember planning your wedding day

There’s an awful lot to remember when planning a wedding? With a staggering average cost of a UK wedding nearing £21,000 there no wonder Brides and Grooms to be are waking up in the night wondering if they have thought of everything! What really all those wedding day essentials and how do you know you have thought of everything.

For the last year, I have been building my ultimate list of absolutely everything you need to think of on your wedding day.

From before and after the wedding day, to ceremony essentials, the special little extras and how to make you wedding guest experience even more dreamy.

And whilst I do plan on releasing that eventually (stay tuned and keep an eye on my instagram for that ;) ) I’ve been dropping a few helpful little tips on both my instagram & TikTok pages to support your wedding planning journeys right now!

So if you are nearing the end of planning and just want to ensure you’ve remembered everything for your wedding day, or you are right at the beginning and want a checklist of every single detail in place - I’ve got you!

Want to see what’s in my wedding stationery checklist?!

Let’s break it down, section by section of your wedding day timeline.

Image taken by Pippa Volans Photography along side wedding styling and flowers from Lara Parnell & on the day wedding stationery created by Hunter Gatherings at Llantilio House, wedding venue near Abergavenny, Wales. A modern barn wedding venue.

Pre Wedding:

  • Save the dates (when do you send save the dates?? Around a year in advance)

  • Invitations (when do you send wedding invitations? 3 - 4 months before your wedding day)

  • RSVP card (of course make sure this is included or pointing your wedding guests clearly to your wedding website)

  • Guest informations (what do you need to put in your wedding invitations? What’s expected of them, local travel informations, shuttles you might be putting on or potential accommodation you may have reserved)

The Wedding Ceremony

  • A Welcome to our wedding sign (signage to let guests know they have arrive are at the correct wedding!)

  • Reserved cards (ensuring your most important guests have a seat saved)

  • Order of service (typically for a church wedding, I don’t usually suggest theses for a civil ceremony, but can be nice which a celebrant led ceremony too!)

  • Social media requests (this can also cover no photos during the ceremony and when you are happy for wedding guests to post photos publicly)

  • Printed wedding vows or ceremony readings (it just look’s better for those photos)

The Drinks Reception

  • Welcome sign (this could be repurposed from the church or other ceremony venue if in another location)

  • Table plan (make sure it’s large, clear and in a visible location!)

  • Drinks Menu (let your guests know what drinks are on offer and what drinks you are serving at your drinks reception)

  • Card box sign (sometimes it’s obvious, sometimes it’s not!)

  • Cake Flavours (what wedding cake have you chosen, and also noting any allergy information)

  • Order of the day (show off that perfected wedding day timeline!)

Wedding meal and Speeches

  • Table names or table number (what to name your wedding guest tables - think places you’ve been, movies you love or perhaps as I did once the many addresses you’ve lived at together!)

  • Guest place cards (allocations seats is a much better guest experience overall)

  • Menus (show off that perfect wedding menu and who your wedding caterers are)

  • Special diet tags (something to show guests what they can expect and also so the wedding catering team can spot people easily without interrupting conversations)

  • Printed speeches (it just looks nicer for the photos!)

Cocktail Hour and The Bar

  • Bar menus (having everything printed in the same style through out just gives that extra touch to the little wedding details)

  • Cocktail menus

  • Evening food menus (this is often something over looked!)

The Wedding Day Extras and Little details (and what to remember after your wedding day)

  • Printed taxi information

  • Wifi code (if you want guests to have it!)

  • Photo upload information

  • Letter to your partner for the wedding morning

  • The all important wedding thank you cards

That's quite wedding stationery checklist! Who knew there was so many small details to consider when it come’s to wedding stationery.

Let’s finish with one of my favourite wedding day stationery collections. Created for Imogen & Ben’s wedding at Llantilio House in August 2024. Fran at Hunter Gatherings wedding stationery the creator of such beautiful personalised work. From subtle Harry Potter wedding details to favourite family flowers and beloved dogs. Can you spot any of the hidden secrets!?

Fran has both more affordable wedding stationery house collections and bespoke wedding stationery designs so I couldn’t recommend having a look enough!

Happy wedding planning!
